For us, sustainability is not a marketing claim or a trend. It is a commitment to preserving craft, working with nature, designing for longevity, and taking responsibility for what happens after a garment has been worn. We believe clothing should move through cycles, not endings.

Preserving a Living Craft

It cannot be rushed, standardized, or easily scaled. As faster and more profitable production methods have emerged.

Yugen is rooted in Ajrakh, a centuries-old textile tradition practiced across western India and deeply connected to Barmer, Rajasthan.

By creating contemporary garments using naturally dyed Ajrakh textiles, we hope to help keep this tradition relevant, viable, and alive for future generations.

Our goal is not to preserve Ajrakh as history, but as a living craft that continues to evolve.

Colours from Nature

Every Yugen garment is coloured using natural dyes derived from ingredients such as indigo, manjistha, harda, pomegranate rind, iron, jaggery, and turmeric.

These colours come from nature and remain connected to it. They carry depth, variation, and character that cannot be manufactured.

No two dye lots are exactly alike. They soften with age, develop patina through wear, and reflect the natural origins from which they came. We see this not as imperfection, but as authenticity.

Designed for a Longer Life

Sustainability begins with usefulness. Rather than chasing seasons and trends, we focus on enduring silhouettes, versatile forms, and thoughtful construction designed to be worn often and worn well.

Our collections are intentionally small. Our designs are intentionally timeless. Because the most sustainable garment is often the one that continues to be worn.
